Two PDP Chieftains Take Over Party Leadership Over Sack Of Uche Secondus

The crises rocking the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, on Tuesday took a dramatic dimension as the Deputy National Chairman (South) of the Party, Elder Yemi Akinwonmi, announced that he has taken over the affairs of the PDP.

This follows the restraining order issued against the National Chairman, Prince Uche Secondus, by a Rivers State High Court in Degema on Monday.

Akinwonmi cited Section 35 (b) of the PDP Constitution to support his action and suspended the National Working Committee meeting of the party indefinitely.

In a similar development, a faction of the National Working Committee of the PDP led by the Deputy National Chairman (North), Senator Suleiman Nazif, alongside nine members of the National Working Committee of the party held a meeting on Tuesday and fixed an emergency National Executive Committee meeting of the party for Friday this week.

This is against the decision of Akinwonmi who had suspended the National Working Committee meeting of the party indefinitely for wider consultations to take place among stakeholders with the aim of resolving the lingering crises rocking the PDP.
